Draft industrial noise guideline

The EPA is proposing to update its Industrial Noise Policy (EPA, 2000), which is used to assess the impact of noise on the community from industrial sources. After 15 years of operation, a review of the policy against contemporary approaches, new scientific research and lessons learnt during implementation is warranted.

Consultation

The EPA is seeking your comment on the Draft Industrial Noise Guideline which is intended to replace the Industrial Noise Policy. The draft guideline updates and clarifies methods and criteria used in planning assessment and environmental regulation processes. The proposed changes have arisen from issues identified by the EPA and users of the policy, an EPA review of new research, and input from NSW planning and health agencies.

Advice from the broader community is now being sought prior to finalising the guideline.
